The “Flying Padres” is a group of Salvation Army Chaplains who have been working in remote regions of Australia’s Northern Territory. They visit Aboriginal communities and hold services at key stages of life, like baptisms, weddings, and funerals. They practice the art of “drop-in” by mainly calling, texting, or emailing to ask if they can pop by to check on people. On one occasion, they performed last rites for a woman whose daughter had recently died by suicide. As Jade Andrews said, “They were just always there. Having someone to talk to was amazing because it can be so isolating.” Read more about the Flying Padres here. [1]
